What ages are the letters for?
The Society’s letters and artwork are family-friendly and made for curious people of every age — children sharing the experience with a grown-up, as well as for teens, adults, elders, and the kid in all of us.
When will mail arrive?
Delivery time depends on the postal service. Each month letters are dropped off to the USPS on the 25th of each month. Since we pack our letters much, much fuller than other clubs we are required to pay a non-machinable surcharge. The post office says that non-machinable letters are processed by hand so they take 7-10 business days or as much as up to 14 business days to be delivered. If you have not received your letter by the 7th of the month we would be happy to send you a replacement. Email us with any missed deadlines, issues, or concerns at thepostmaster@thesocietyofsmallmagic.com.
What is the International Letter?
The International Letter is $18 per month, including international postage. It brings The Postmaster’s letter, continuing stories, illustrations, and invitations to participate. There is one international edition, with no enhanced tier, although as a bonus we include a gentle magic spell.
It does not include trinkets, sticker sheets, ribbons, trading or oracle cards, bookmarks, or commercial photo prints, as these are not allowed by many countries in correspondence.
Why isn’t + Personal Magic available outside the U.S.?
Personal Magic includes an extra piece of original artwork (sometimes a 1-of-1 version), a stunning collectible tarot card, and a gentle spell. 1-of-1 artwork does not qualify for the international correspondence-only letter service we use; it would require a different shipping service, customs paperwork, and prohibitive costs and requirements.
To keep the International Letter at $18 per month with postage included, we offer one correspondence-only edition. Illustrations remain part of the experience, but the + Personal Magic option is available only with U.S. Letters. As a bonus though we do offer a gentle magic spell in every international letter at no extra charge.
Where can the Society send mail?
International Letters are offered to eligible destinations, including EU countries. Availability depends on current USPS service, destination restrictions, and any applicable local requirements. Available destinations are shown at checkout.
As of October 25, 2026, USPS has temporarily suspended mail service to Afghanistan, Argentina, Belarus, Bhutan, Cuba, Haiti, Iran, Kiribati, Republic of Congo, Seychelles, South Sudan, Sudan, Turkmenistan, and Yemen. We cannot currently send physical letters to these destinations, and they are unavailable at checkout for subscriptions, gifts, and archived letters. Postal availability may change; see the current USPS service alerts.
The U.S. Letter is $15 per month; U.S. Letter + Personal Magic is $20 per month. International Letters are $18 per month, including international postage. Gift subscriptions contain the same content; the giver pays instead of the recipient. Choose a gift duration above and continue to secure checkout.
How are international letters prepared?
International letters are required by law in many countries to be enclosed in a light-colored outer envelope, rather than our signature navy blue envelope. Each finished letter weighs up to 3.4 ounces and is limited to no thicker than ¼ inch, within USPS letter dimensions. Any required nonmachinable postage is included in the price. Available destinations reflect postal service and destination requirements.
Can I cancel?
Yes. You may cancel anytime before the next renewal to prevent future charges. Canceling does not undo an order that has already entered fulfillment.
What is the refund policy?
Because physical editions are assembled in limited monthly batches, fulfilled orders are nonrefundable. If an edition arrives damaged or has not arrived by the 7th of the month, message the Society at thepostmaster@thesocietyofsmallmagic.com so we can immediately make it right. We will respond within 48 hours, often within less than one day. Your experience matters to us.
What happens to my information?
Email addresses are used only for official Society communications and news about relevant waitlists or issues. We do not sell or share it. Ever.
Checkout and payment information are handled securely by Stripe under its own privacy terms.
Terms of participation
The Society’s writing, art, characters, and artifacts are protected creative work for personal enjoyment. Please do not reproduce or resell them. Participation spaces must remain lawful and respectful. Prices, contents, and fulfillment dates will be shown before purchase and may change for future, unpurchased editions.
